Marriott International announced the official launch of its media network, MARRIOTT MEDIA, on June 12th, marking a significant shift in how brands engage with consumers. MARRIOTT MEDIA is a traveler-centric network. Unlike traditional media networks, it focuses on customers and their journeys, connecting relevant brands with travelers at optimal moments through digital or physical touchpoints. Leveraging first-party data from nearly 237 million Marriott Bonvoy members and its global portfolio of nearly 10,000 hotels, MARRIOTT MEDIA combines demographic information with guest behavior, travel intent, and motivations to deliver comprehensive travel insights and creative content services, ultimately driving performance for marketers. Marriott International commits to using user data responsibly in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. The platform also features a prominent opt-out button for users.

2. Hyatt Officially Launches New Upscale Lifestyle Brand: Unscripted by Hyatt

Hyatt recently officially announced its new brand: Unscripted by Hyatt. According to the official description, Unscripted by Hyatt belongs to Hyatt’s “Hyatt Essentials” portfolio, positioned as an upscale lifestyle brand. Unscripted by Hyatt represents a collection of diverse, upscale hotels, each with a distinct personality reflecting the spirit of independent hotels and small brands. It caters not to Instagrammable itineraries, but to travelers seeking authentic stays and a preference for free-flowing rhythms. This time, “Unscripted” evolves from individual properties into a strategically significant global collection brand, embodying Hyatt’s broader brand vision.

3. IHG’s voco Hotels Achieves Rapid Growth Target

voco, the upscale hotel brand under IHG launched in 2018 and known for its unique and thoughtful guest experience, has rapidly become IHG’s fastest-growing brand in its tier. It now operates in over 25 countries and regions, with plans to expand into Turkey, Malaysia, and Aruba within the next two years. The brand has maintained incredible momentum since its debut. voco currently has 100 open hotels globally, with the recently opened voco Yangshuo Guilin marking the 100th milestone property. An additional 95 hotels are in the pipeline. Brand Vice President Ginger Taggart stated that at the current development pace, voco is on track to achieve its goal of 200 open hotels globally before its 10th anniversary. voco’s success stems from its adaptable development and construction approach and flexible operational framework, enabling owners to quickly benefit from IHG’s platform with limited upfront costs. While preserving each hotel’s unique local character, voco offers owners thoughtfully tailored solutions for long-term operational support.

4. Mandarin Oriental Announces Second Hotel in Desaru Coast, Malaysia

On June 12th, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group announced the rebranding of a resort and private residences in Desaru Coast, Johor, Malaysia. Expected to be renamed Mandarin Oriental Desaru Coast in January 2026, this move is part of the group’s long-term global expansion strategy. Designed by the late architect Kerry Hill, the resort blends tropical modernism and features 44 suites and villas, five restaurants, a Mandarin Oriental Spa offering therapies, a Kids’ Club, and other facilities.

5. Ningbo InterContinental Reflagged as VignetteCollection Brand

As of June 9th, according to IHG’s official website, the Ningbo InterContinental Hotel has been renamed “VignetteCollection Ningbo Azure”. Bookings are currently available on the IHG website and other platforms. The Ningbo InterContinental Hotel opened in 2012, originally developed by Ningbo Pacific Industrial Co., Ltd. and managed by IHG. Located in the core area of Ningbo National Hi-Tech Zone and adjacent to the Ningbo Municipal Government, the hotel offers 319 guest rooms and suites, five restaurants, and a range of comprehensive service facilities.

6. World’s First Nordisk Village Glamping Hotel Opens in Jinhua, Zhejiang

Recently, Nordisk’s glamping hotel project, Nordisk Village, officially opened in Shuanglong Scenic Area, Jinhua, Zhejiang Province. Bookings are now available. The location integrates the picturesque landscapes of Jiangsu-Zhejiang with the minimalist Nordic lifestyle philosophy. The hotel features 20 uniquely positioned tented rooms equipped with modern amenities. The campsite’s communal areas offer 24-hour hot water bathroom facilities and a full range of entertainment options. Guests can enjoy a check-in ready, “luggage-free” glamping experience with butler service. Experienced campers bringing their own tents can set up on any of the 18 provided 25-square-meter campsites.
